Interests:
The major research efforts in Dr. Kang Derwent’s
laboratory have been to understand the underlying processes
that cause certain blinding diseases and investigate potential
treatments. Dr. Kang Derwent focuses on two blinding diseases:
retinal degeneration (e.g. age-related macular degeneration)
and retinal vascular diseases (e.g. occlusion and diabetic
retinopathy). We will focus on Dr. Kang Derwent’s and
her team’s effort on retinal vascular diseases, specifically
the involvement of nitric oxide (NO).
