Research Interests:
My interest is in statistical models and algorithms for
computer vision and speech recognition. Emphasis is on stochastic
modeling of the appearance of visual and acoustic objects
and their configurations in complex scenes. I also work on
modeling the high level cortical processing of visual input – neural
network models for learning object representations, detecting
the objects in real images and classification among multiple
object classes. Finally, I am interested in studying the relationship
between elements of the network models and known biological
functions, building on the interaction between the statistical/algorithmic
study of vision and research on the biological mechanisms.
